If you need any of the following for your course, gear can be rented or purchased from Local Supply Co in Smithers, BC. They additionally offer Cold Smoke AST students 10% off new gear with proof of course registration.
Touring
Gear
This could be:

Skis with touring bindings, skins, poles, and compatible touring boots

Splitboard with touring bindings, skins, poles, and compatible boots

Snowboard with snowshoes and poles
Backpack
You will need a backpack to carry your avalanche rescue gear, food, water, and extra layers. Avalanche rescue gear must fit inside your pack.
Transceiver
Avalanche Rescue Gear
Avalanche transceiver must have 3-antennas and be in good working condition.
Shovel
Avalanche Rescue Gear
A metal shovel that can breakdown or collapse to fit inside your backpack.
Probe
Avalanche Rescue Gear
A collapsable probe, preferably 3m or longer.
Food + Water
Bring plenty of snacks and lunch to eat at our field site, along with water or a Thermos to bring a hot beverage.
Extra Layers
Bring an spare warm jacket for layering with your regular ski kit to stay warm while we are out learning. You may like a spare pair of gloves, one light pair and one heavier pair, and a toque.
Helmet
Recommended
A hemet is recommended for our ski down at the end of the day.
