Dave Stimson
Dave grew up in Calgary, under the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. While attending college in the Ecotourism & Outdoor Leadership program at Mount Royal University, he cut his teeth in the Canadian Rockies, on Mt Yamnuska and the Icefields Parkway.
After graduating in 2007, he began his career in the avalanche industry as a Ski Patroller at Castle Mountain Resort. It was here that he built the foundation of his career over the next 15 years, eventually managing the Ski Patrol and its avalanche control program. In 2018, he began heliskiing with Last Frontier Heliski, where he currently works as a Lead Guide and Guide Team Manager.
An avid rock climber, Dave started using this time developing as a rock and alpine climber. He began guiding in the Sierra Nevada in 2015, where he still works each summer on immaculate granite peaks in perfect California weather! A long-time employee for Sierra Mountain Center, he is currently a Lead Guide and Guide Team Manager as well.

Dave has always valued education and mentorship and has striven to develop new guides and ski patrollers into competent professionals. His passion is exploration and adventure, and moving to Smithers has been driven by a desire to explore this remote and beautiful region. Dave is a Professional Member of the Canadian Avalanche Association and an IFMGA Mountain Guide. He is excited to bring that experience and expertise to the Smithers area and hopes to pass that on to the ski touring community.
